TUPROGENDER

Tuprogender (Latin tu - “you” + pro - “for” + gender) — a term for a gender with a fluid identity/expression that is influenced by the sexuality/attractions of those around oneself, and par-ticularly an identity that may or may not shift in response to sexual or romantic identities/attractions of others around oneself. The identity is inherently relational and dynamic in a sense, meaning it can change based on the people in one's social/relational sphere. While possibly sitting under the um-brella of identities such as genderfluid or genderflux (sharing traits like adaptability and change), it is a distinct experience in its relational influence.

People who identify as tuprogender may:

  • shift their sense of their own gender identity (intentionally or unintentionally) to align with the attraction of those they have romantic or sexual feelings for.

  • shift their sense of their own gender identity (intentionally or unintentionally) to align against the attraction of those they are not attracted to, or do not have a well-built bond or trust with. This may cause tuprogender individuals to suddenly feel disconnected from gender identities they may have previously felt connected with.

  • feel disconnected/reconnected with gender identities when no longer feeling the presence/influence of the person who may have been influencing their identity.

These are not 100% certain to happen.

My gender identity is something I've struggled to understand for quite some time. When I finally figured it out, I found that there was no term matching my experience or how I felt. However, I saw this as an opportunity to get creative (even if I might be the only person who feels this way), so I put a name to the feeling and designed this flag.
